A Note from the PYFFL Board of Directors

Dear PYFFL Families,

Now that registration for the 2026 season has concluded, we want to take a moment to speak directly with our community.

First, thank you.

Because of your passion for flag football and your commitment to this league, we will once again have over 750 players this season. That number is something we are incredibly proud of. It reflects years of steady growth, long hours behind the scenes, and a shared commitment to building something special for kids across our area.

We broke several league registration records over the past week. Four out of every five players from a year ago have signed up to return, with nearly all of them taking advantage of our early registration period, which has proven to be very successful.

At the same time, we know the outcome of registration was frustrating for some families.

Several divisions reached capacity quickly, and in some cases, both roster spots and waitlists filled. We understand how disappointing that can be, especially for families hoping to join the league this season.

We want to be clear and transparent about why this happens.

PYFFL is an independent, parent-run, non-profit league. Every aspect of the league is organized by volunteers who dedicate a tremendous amount of time and energy to make this possible.

Our board members are volunteers.

Our coaches are volunteers.

The people lining fields, organizing equipment, coordinating schedules, and managing game days are all volunteers.

We continue to push ourselves to grow each year. We have added teams, expanded divisions, and increased overall capacity consistently over time.

But there are limits.

There are only so many fields available.

Only so many practice slots.

Only so many referees and scorekeepers.

Only so many hours in a weekend.

And just as importantly, there is a standard of player experience that we are committed to maintaining. We have done a really good job in this area and would put our league up against any other in the region.

Please know this: we do not take turning players away lightly.

We understand what this league means to families and we genuinely wish we had the capacity to accommodate everyone who wants to participate.

We will continue to look for ways to grow responsibly, including exploring opportunities to expand into other local South Shore communities. We will continue to evaluate our structure, our resources, and where additional capacity may be possible. That work is ongoing, just as it has been for the past 14 years.

But we will always balance growth with quality, safety, and the experience we promise to every player on the field.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your continued support.

And thank you for being part of what makes PYFFL so special.

Sincerely,

The PYFFL Board of Directors

🏈 Registration Begins In One Week!

The countdown is officially on. We’re gearing up for another incredible fall with PYFFL, and we can’t wait to get everyone back out on the field for the 2026 season.

⏰ Key Dates to Know

Returning Player Registration Opens:

Sunday, March 29th at 9:00 AM ET

Returning Player Window Closes:

Thursday, April 2nd

This early registration window is critical.

With continued growth across the league and demand at an all-time high, players who participated in the 2025 season are strongly encouraged to register the moment registration opens. While this priority access is designed to give returning players the first opportunity to secure a spot, it may very well be the only opportunity to register for the 2026 season.

⚠️ Important Eligibility Details

This early access is:

Strictly limited to players who were rostered in the 2025 season

NOT open to siblings, family members, or friends who did not participate last year.

Any registrations submitted outside of this group will be cancelled.

A very small number of waitlisted players from last season will also receive access during this window. Because of this, availability remains limited and spots are not guaranteed — even during early registration.

🆕 New & Kindergarten Players

Registration for Kindergarten and new players in grades 1-9 will open:

Saturday, April 4th at 9:00 AM ET

Registration will be accessible on the registration page at that time.

As always, openings will be extremely limited and are expected to fill quickly.

📩 What’s Next?

The registration link for returning players will be sent via email later this week.

👉 Keep an eye on your inbox — you won’t want to miss it.

2026 PYFFL Registration Information

Mark your calendars — registration for the 2026 PYFFL season is right around the corner.

Registration will first open exclusively for returning players on Sunday, March 29th. This early access window allows families who participated last season the opportunity to secure their spot before registration opens to players who did not participate in 2025.

Registration will then open for Kindergarten players and all new players to the league on Saturday, April 4th.

As the league continues to grow and demand for roster spots increases each year, families are encouraged to register as soon as their eligibility window opens. Spots are not guaranteed, and registration for new players will be subject to limited availability.

More details including registration links, division information, and season timelines will be shared soon. Returning players will receive an e-mail.

We’re looking forward to another great season of PYFFL football! 🏈

Announcing the 2025 Damian D’Angelo Sportsmanship Award Winners

The Damian D'Angelo Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of the founder and former longtime president of the Pembroke Youth Flag Football League. While many dedicated volunteers have played important roles in the league’s growth, it is Damian’s unwavering commitment, time, and passion that have left a lasting mark on the Pembroke youth sports community. His leadership continues to shape the standard of excellence we strive for every season. Thank you, Damian.

Each year, PYFFL coaches are asked to recognize the player on their team who best embodies the spirit of this award. While countless players are worthy of consideration, those selected truly exemplify what it means to “play the game the right way.” They compete with heart, lift up their teammates, maintain a positive attitude, and show respect to opponents, officials, coaches, and the game itself.
